Duffel Bag Program
The Duffel Bag Program is one of Post 302’s cornerstone service initiatives, offering a wide selection of essential goods free of charge to service members, veterans, and their families. Our mission is to ensure that no veteran in our community goes without the support and resources they need. To keep the program organized, fair, and sustainable, we follow the guidelines below.

Big Ticket Item
Each participant may select ONE big-ticket item (e.g., small appliances, electronics, larger household equipment). Once a big-ticket item is chosen, no exchanges or substitutions are allowed. This policy ensures fairness and prevents shortages of high-value items.
Priority Access
The first hour of every event is exclusively reserved for active Post 302 members. This priority window ensures our members-who volunteer, contribute, and help sustain the program-receive early access to available inventory, including high-demand or limited-quantity items. Members enjoy a quieter, more organized experience with the full support of our volunteers.
Bag Policy
Participants may bring the two Duffel Bags originally issued by Post 302. If you require another bag, additional Duffel Bags are available for purchase at the event. This helps manage inventory and ensures everyone has equal opportunity to select items.
Become A Member
If you are a veteran who wants to participate in the priority hour-or simply join a Post that is growing, active, and dedicated to serving our community-we warmly welcome you to become a member of Richard A. Oman Post 302. Membership not only provides additional program benefits but also strengthens our ability to serve more veterans across the Hutto area.
Santa's Workshop at The Great Place
For nearly a decade, the Richard A. Oman American Legion Post 302 in Hutto, Texas, has been deeply honored to support Fort Hood’s Santa’s Workshop, an annual program that brings joy, hope, and essential resources to military families in need. What began as a small outreach effort in 2015 has grown into a meaningful partnership that continues to serve soldiers’ children year after year.
On November 20, 2025, Commander Tim Thompson of Post 302, along with our Santa’s Workshop Chair Sandra Thompson and former Chair Marilyn Morgan, attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fort Hood. Their presence reflects the long-standing commitment of Post 302 to this mission—one that has been shaped and strengthened by the Morgan family’s generosity and leadership.
