Post 302 Commander
Tim Thompson

My name is Timothy Thompson. I was born on June 10, 1982, in Oakland, California. I was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and that is where I joined the U.S. Army in 2005. I attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, and from there, I went to Aberdeen Proving Ground for AIT as a wheeled vehicle mechanic.
In 2006, I received my first duty assignment at Fort Carson, Colorado, where I was stationed with the 2nd Infantry Division and deployed to Iraq. Upon my return in 2008, we reflagged to the 4th Infantry Division and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, returning in 2010.

I then PCS’d to Fort Hood in October 2010, where I worked in the motor pool as a mechanic and worked my way up to Company Motor Sergeant. I was medically discharged in July 2016 and am currently a 100% disabled veteran.
I went back to school and earned my Bachelor of Arts in General Studies. I joined the American Legion in September 2021. I started as a member who volunteered wherever needed, then became the Post Historian, followed by serving as the Finance Officer for two years, and now proudly serve as the Commander.
I look forward to continuing the mission of the American Legion and helping our Post thrive. I also want to ensure that all veterans in the Hutto area and surrounding communities have a place to call home and feel the camaraderie we all miss from our days in the military.
